Ebay, Amazon, and other online services have changed shopping forever. Now ride sharing and other person-to-person direct transactions will help drive the economy of the future. Entrenched businesses will resist (video below) – but growth of this new aspect of the economy can’t be stopped.
Sharing of underutilized assets in the economy makes great sense. Both parties in the transaction win, and it’s less wasteful. Of course for all of this to work you need a suitable instant-communication technology infrastructure. We take our cell phones and PC internet access for granted, but this technology is miraculous in the sweep of history.
